About the Scholarship
The Rising Dreams Scholarship supports synchronized skaters by offsetting synchronized skating costs. Rise on Ice and the Olympic Dreams Project have partnered to provide this scholarship to advance the sport by fostering the development of individual skaters through financial aid.
About the Recipients
After careful review from a panel of Rise on Ice team members, Jaiden was recognized with this award for her dedication to the skating community and her commitment to mentoring the next generation of skaters.
In her own words, Jaiden shares the story of her skating career and what the sport has meant to her:
“My name is Jaiden Harris, and I’ve been skating for around 11 years now. I began skating at For DuPont ice arena and quickly fell in love with synchro. After a few years, I chose to concentrate on my singles career, and that’s when I really started to excel in skating. I’ve always enjoyed performing, and I eventually decided to take my skating talents to the theatre. Since then, I’ve participated in almost every show at Tucker Road ice rink, alongside my younger brother. After graduating high school, I’ve dedicated my time to volunteering and working at Tucker Road, sharing my skating skills with other kids who were inspired to start skating. For me, skating is a way to release my feelings and express myself freely. Whenever I feel stressed, I like to spend time on the ice to let out all my frustrations. While doing this, I was able to motivate my younger brother to start skating as well. I love seeing how one person can encourage others to chase their dreams or passions. Skating has also taught me discipline and has helped me manage school, especially with assignments that needed a lot of time and effort. Skating has shown me that you only get out what you put in, so I will always aim to give my best thanks to skating and the valuable lessons it has taught me throughout my skating journey.”
